Bug Battle Game

The BUG BATTLE GAME

For the past nine months I have been working on a top-down shooter game called “Bug Battle Game.”

As this is my first completely independent project, I had to figure out the concept, sprites, music, graphics, coding and how to launch it on Steam.

I used Game Maker to build the game, although I had to use my own coding skills to make sure it ran correctly.

The music used used was primarily from Smart Sound, a royalty free music company that lets you customize its length.

One of the many songs I used is called “Night Mischief – Mysterious from the Album “Land of Wonder.” I also used music from Envato Markpetplace

Photoshop was used  to create the initial bugs and then the sprites were created by both Alanna Light and me using software called Spriter.  We upgraded the free version to make the process of animating the graphics easier.

In order to launch a game on Steam, I had to create a trailer for the game. The following trailer was edited in FCPX.

In order to drop the gifs into the video timeline I had to convert the gifs to MP4s using a free application called Gif to MP4 Converter online.

I remade the gifs with a background that I could key out…as you can see by the fly gif below.

The gifs in the game are imported like this:

Robert Santos, a local professional narrator and television anchor, provided the narration.
